Your handwriting says more about you than your conversations (and you don't know it)
Your handwriting is the map of what you don't say.
Pick up a pen. Write two lines about how you feel today. The content doesn't matter.
Now look at the paper.
Did the pressure mark the second sheet? Is your handwriting large or small? Does it lean to the right, to the left, or stay straight?
You don't need to be a graphologist for those three questions to tell you something uncomfortable.
The pressure that goes through the paper
If your hand left a mark on the second sheet, there is something that matters to you. A lot. Perhaps too much.
It could be passion. It could be contained anger. Sometimes the same intensity hurts at both ends.
🪞 What is it that matters so much to you that you can't write without pressing hard?
The handwriting that shrinks
You start at a normal size and end up with tiny letters.
People have told you that you are meticulous. A perfectionist. And that may be true. But it may also be something else: the fear of taking up space. Of being a bother. Of being judged.
🪞 In what part of your life are you making yourself smaller than you are?
The slant that gives you away
Handwriting leaning to the right: you go out to meet people. Sometimes before they call you. It is generous. But sometimes, it is also not knowing how to wait.
Handwriting leaning to the left: you protect yourself. That is not bad. The problem is when the wall stays up even when there is no longer any danger.
Straight handwriting: you balance. The problem with balance is that it looks like you are not moving. And life demands movement.
🪞 Are you going towards others or waiting for them to come to you?
The signature that looks nothing like the rest of the text
The signature is how you show yourself to the world. The rest of the text is how you are when no one is watching.
If they don't resemble each other, you are living split in two. That is neither good nor bad. It is a fact. The question is: how much energy do you spend maintaining that difference?
🪞 What part of yourself do you leave out of the signature?
This is not a diagnosis
I am not going to tell you who you are from three lines. But I can assure you of something: your handwriting is telling you something that your mind has already normalised.
Fatigue without cause. Anger that slips out. The fear of not being up to it. That is on the paper, before you name it.
🪞 How many times have you felt something and not known where it came from?
A corner of truth
You have been writing the same way for years. And perhaps, also, you have been repeating the same patterns for years without knowing it.
You don't need to change anything today. Just look. Write another line tomorrow and compare it to today's. Is there a difference? Is there something you had not allowed yourself to see?
